At YMCA Camp Gorham, qualified, responsible, dedicated and FUN staff members are an essential part to every camper’s experience!  Seasonal Staff members undergo a series of interviews, provide three professional references, trained in CPR/First Aid and are background screened annually.  Our International staff members brings cultural diversity to your camper’s experience and all stand ready to welcome your camper next summer!

Katlyn Feder: Adirondack Village Head

Katlyn returns to camp this summer as our Adirondack Village Head! She was a Gorham camper for 9 years and a CIT! Katlyn is currently getting her degree at Nazareth College in technical theater production. Her favorite camp song is “The Princess Pat”. Katlyn’s favorite memory as a camper is going on an overnight and she is looking forward to leading her campers to fun adventures on overnights this summer! We are thrilled to have Katlyn here this summer!

Ashley Gibson: Leadership Village Head

Camp Gorham has been a second home for Ashley for most of her life. This is her 12th summer coming to Camp Gorham and her 6th year as a staff member! Ashley is coming back this summer as the Leadership Village Head! Ashley recently graduated from SUNY Geneseo with degrees in English and Spanish. She cannot wait for summer to arrive! Ashley’s favorite memories of camp are getting to know all of the campers and staff each year! Her favorite song to sing and dance to at camp is “Rattlin’ Bog” and her favorite activity is high ropes! When Ashley isn’t at camp she loves to participate in Color Guard, which is coordinated dance with a flag!

Tim Quarles: Head of Campers

We are welcoming Tim back this summer as our Head of Campers! Tim recently graduated from Paul Smith College with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Facility Management. Tim was a camper at Camp Gorham for many years, from age 10-17! This will be Tim’s third year on camp staff, and he is so excited to get back to all things camp, but especially canoeing and kayaking! His favorite camp song is “Little Red Wagon” and some of his best memories are from the overnights. Tim says, “The overnights are the best because you really get to bond as cabins and try new things!” When Tim is not at camp he loves to camp, and enjoys spending time at 8th Lake in the Adirondack Park!

Elise Stalker: Waterfront Director

Elise will be joining us for her 5th year on staff and 3rd as the Waterfront Director at Camp Gorham and she cannot wait to be back this year! Elise is currently at Rochester Institute of Technology studying for her Masters in Psychology, she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Daemen College. She is looking forward to this summer is singing her favorite song- “The Coconut Song”, and hanging out with the Adirondack and Frontier girls on overnights. One of her favorite memories from Camp Gorham is when her campers helped her to become an R&B queen! Elise really enjoys doing meditation coloring books as a hobby when she is not at camp, she has 5 at home! We cannot wait to have her back this summer!

Ali Turner:

Ali has grown up going to many different camps, she spent 1 summer as a camper here at Camp Gorham and knew she wanted to be a part of our awesome staff one day! She has been on the Camp Gorham staff team for 4 years now, has been our Senior Counselor in the Lodge and the Adirondack Village Head! Ali will be graduating from The College of Wooster in Ohio with a major in Art History. Ali is super excited to sing “The Coconut Song” at the top of her lungs this summer and can’t wait for tie- dye Tuesdays and canoeing. Her favorite memories at camp usually are made at the overnight, since they are a really special and unique experience! While Ali is waiting for the summer to return she loves to hike and read! We are so excited to have Ali back this year, and can’t wait to see her tie -dying skills!

Ben Schnier: Co-Lodge Senior Counselor

Ben is headed back to camp for his third year on staff to provide co-leadership to the Wilderness Lakes Lodge this summer! Ben was a camper for many years as well! He has just completed his first year of college at University of Vermont and he plays in a “jam-band” at school. Ben is excited to reconnect with all the past campers, along with meeting new ones! His favorite parts of camp is meeting new people. A fun fact about Ben is he loves bossanova music from Brazil. “It makes me so happy and I wish everyone could listen to it!” Ben reports. Ben is always enthusiastic and fun loving, we are thrilled he will be on Central staff this summer!

Maddy Kho: Co-Lodge Senior Counselor

Maddy returned to camp this summer co-leading the Wilderness Lakes Lodge! She has been on staff for the past two summers and was a camper for five years before that. She has just finished her first year at Bucknell University studying mechanical engineering. She loves dance, reading and hiking! Maddy is excited about every aspect of camp, especially all the campers, the beautiful property and the camp songs! Maddy will also be heading up a camp specialty track favorite “Outdoor Cooking”! Apple cobbler is her favorite outdoor cooking delight! Maddy also brings her love of Gorham’s history to her campers teaching tons of fun facts about our camp’s amazing history! Maddy will bring many smiles to our youngest campers this summer!

Aimee Beaudette: Frontier Village Head

Aimee joined Camp Gorham in 2016 working in our teen programs and we are excited to welcome her back this summer as our Frontier Village Head. She is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Environmental Science and Biology. When not at camp Aimee teaches high school chemistry and biology as well as coaching her school's cross country team!

Angus Wardhaugh: Lumberjack Village Head

Angus joined the Camp Gorham team in 2014 and has worked with our teen leadership and wilderness trip programs. This year he is returning as our Lumberjack Village Head! Angus joins us from Scotland and really enjoys spending his summers in the Adirondacks at Camp Gorham working with out teens!

Alfonzo Whitehurst "Fonz": Big Moose Village Head

Fonz joined the Camp Gorham team in 2015 and this year will be his first as our Big Moose Village Head! Fonz will soon have his degree from Utica College in Health and Wellness Adventure Education with a concentration in Physical Education. After that he's heading right on for his Masters! Fonz is really looking forward to leading the Big Moose Village to victory in the Gorham games this year. He is there for the campers and wants to make sure everyone is having a great time and making new friends!
